The New Pathways for Fathers and Families (New Pathways) is a dynamic program designed to strengthen father-child engagement, improve employment and economic opportunities, and improve healthy relationships in your life.

New Pathways serves low-income biological fathers, expectant and adoptive fathers, stepfathers, or a person who is serving as a father figure for a dependent child or young adult up to 24 years old who lives in Milwaukee County.

Joining New Pathways, you’ll be involved in three blended core program services and workshops:

Responsible Parenting

Responsible Parenting

Parenting does not come with a manual. Our Responsible Parenting workshops and custom services were created with this in mind. They’ll cover topics like:

  • Child development and behaviors
  • How to establish positive communication with children
  • Skills for effective co-parenting
  • How to set child boundaries and use non-violent discipline
  • Strategies for becoming an involved father
  • Skills for age-appropriate play with children
  • The importance of financially providing for children
Economic Stability

Healthy Marriage / Relationship

No two relationships are the same, and no two people will always see eye to eye. Healthy Marriage/Relationship workshops and custom services will help fathers and couples work on skills like:

  • Communication
  • Handling conflict
  • Reducing domestic violence
  • Financial literacy
  • Identifying safe/unsafe and healthy/unhealthy relationship patterns realistic for everyday life
Economic Stability

Economic Stability

Everyone can use a little help when it comes to finances. Whether you know a lot or nothing at all, Economic workshops and custom services will help with:

  • Employment
  • Child support budgets
  • Career exploration
  • Information about internships and other paid and unpaid work opportunities

Upon completion of the New Pathways program, Milwaukee County Childhood Support Services will generously offer you:

  • A 50% reduction in state interest OR,
  • If there is no state interest, a 50% reduction in birthing expenses
